Biography

Dr Arup Sen is a highly respected consultant physician based in London, holding the rare distinction of triple accreditation in Stroke, Geriatric and General Medicine.

Renowned for his compassionate, patient-centred approach, Dr Sen takes a holistic view of health, meticulously tailoring each consultation to the unique needs, values, and health goals of his patients.

He believes in a collaborative approach to healthcare, empowering patients by involving them at every stage of their treatment journey to optimise their overall well-being and quality of life.

With specialist expertise spanning a wide range of complex conditions, Dr Sen is adept at managing stroke, transient ischaemic attack (TIA), cerebral small vessel disease, hypertension and dementia, alongside performing comprehensive medical assessments.

His extensive knowledge and experience enable him to provide nuanced, individualised care, including the often-challenging intersections of multiple health conditions.

In his NHS role, Dr Sen serves in the medical Specialties division at University College Hospital, a prestigious London teaching hospital associated with University College London (UCL). He also consults within the stroke service at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square, recognised as the UK’s premier centre for advanced neurological care. In this role, Dr Sen contributes to cutting-edge care in the field of stroke medicine, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional outcomes for his patients.

Additionally, Dr Sen is a consulting physician on the private Acute Admissions Unit (AAU) at the Cleveland Clinic London.

Dr Arup Sen earned his medical degree with distinction at St George’s University of London, alongside an intercalated BSc (Honours) in Medical Sciences from UCL. As a Member of the Royal College of Physicians, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his clinical practice, underpinned by a commitment to ongoing professional development and medical excellence.

Outside of his clinical practice, Dr Sen is actively involved in advancing the field of medicine through research, innovation, and education. He has presented his work at international conferences and has numerous publications in reputable medical journals.

His dedication to pioneering patient care is further underscored by his completion of a HealthTech fellowship, equipping him with cutting-edge skills to integrate digital health solutions into clinical practice.

Additionally, Dr Sen holds leadership roles in quality improvement and clinical governance at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he contributes to setting high standards for patient safety and care delivery. He is also dedicated to training the next generation of physicians through his active involvement in the education of UCL medical students.
